Are you a frequent Walgreens visitor? Then you should know that Walgreens offers discounts for seniors!
Read on to find out more about what to expect from Walgreens Seniors Day! In the long term, senior discounts at Walgreens may allow you to save a huge chunk of money.
When Is Walgreens Senior Discount Day?
Usually, the Walgreens senior day is once a month, on the first Tuesday of each month. Walgreens may move the senior day to the following Tuesday as well if the first Tuesday is a holiday.
The Walgreens senior discount on Tuesday is available all day. The size of the discount is typically 30% off Walgreens brands and 20% off national brands.
Walgreens offers discount coupons for online purchases as well. Usually, the discount code is SENIOR20 for 20% discounts and SENIOR30 for 30% discounts. The coupons are only applicable to online purchases. Online deals typically last longer than in-store deals – for about a week.
The size of all Walgreens senior discounts and their availability may change over time. To get the most up-to-date information, we suggest that you keep an eye on the Walgreens Seniors Day webpage.
Since April 2020, Walgreens has extended senior discounts to every Tuesday as well. On Tuesdays, Walgreens stores open from 8 AM – after opening, one full hour is dedicated to senior citizens and their families. On these days, customers aged 55 or more also get access to special discounts.
Who Is Eligible For Walgreens Senior Discounts?
According to the Walgreens Seniors Day webpage, discounts are available for customers who are aged 55 or older or are AARP members. Aside from that, Walgreens requires Balance Rewards cards for discounts.
With that said, these requirements may change since as of this post’s writing, the Balance Rewards program was near its end. On November 5, 2020, Balance Rewards will be replaced by the new myWalgreens program. More details below.
Are All Purchases Eligible For Senior Discounts?
Not all purchases at Walgreens are eligible for senior discounts. Most importantly, senior discounts can’t be combined with other discounts or deals.
Besides, as of this post’s writing, here were some of the products ineligible for the senior discount when shopping online:
- CBD Products.
- Alli Weight Loss Aid.
- Birchbox Shop products.
- Philips Norelco.
- Philips Sonicare.
Senior discount codes cannot be combined with other promotional codes, as well as can’t be applied to cut shipping charges.
As for in-store purchases, the 30% senior discount is available for a limited range of products, including:
- A Little Something.
- Big Roll.
- Complete Home.
- Finest Nutrition.
- Infinitive Living Solutions.
- Modern Expressions.
In-store products not eligible for the senior discount include:
- Magazines & newspapers.
With both online and in-store purchases, gift cards and taxes can’t be discounted as well.
The full list of eligible and ineligible purchases can be found on the Seniors Day web page. You will find the lists at the bottom of the page under points 2 (online purchases with coupons) and 3 (in-store purchases).
How Else Can Seniors Save Money With Walgreens?
Another way to save money with Walgreens is to sign up for myWalgreens. A replacement program for Balance Rewards, myWalgreens rewards you for each purchase made at Walgreens pharmacies. The program is set to launch on November 5, 2020, and if you have any Balance Rewards points, they will roll over to myWalgreens.
Among other things, myWalgreens provides you with 1% cash rewards, with the new rewards being the same value as Balance Rewards points. Additionally, purchases of Walgreens-branded products give you 5% cash rewards.
You may use the cash rewards to get better prices for future purchases at Walgreens locations. Restrictions may apply.
Aside from this, Walgreens offers copays as low as $0 for select Medicare plans. Again, restrictions may apply, so you should research this offer more in-depth.
If you’re a senior, you clearly have numerous ways to save at Walgreen, which makes it one of the most impressive retailers we’ve seen in this regard!
