Dr Eric Berg As An Internet Entrepreneur
Dr Berg joined YouTube back in 2008. The oldest video on his channel is dated December 19, 2008.
Since the very beginning, Dr Berg’s videos have been focused on diet and losing weight, though he sometimes provides more general health advice as well.
Nowadays, Dr Berg is particularly focused on ketogenic diets – diets where you take high amounts of fat, moderate amounts of protein, and low amounts of carbohydrates. Such diets are commonly called low-carb, high-fat (LCHF), in contrast with the more traditional high-carb, low-fat (HCLF) diets most people are accustomed to.

Dr Berg provides a fair bit of information on his personal website as well. Let’s go over the stuff you can find there.
First up, he has blog posts covering keto, nutrition, recipes, and diet- & weight loss-related success stories. Much of the information on Dr Berg’s blog is related to keto.
Next, Dr Berg offers free mini-courses, which serve as short introductions to topics like switching to keto, battling extra fat, or doing intermittent fasting properly.
Speaking of courses, Dr Berg has several paid courses as well. These courses are perhaps more intended for those looking to become dietary professionals and health coaches, though people just looking to eat healthily and lose weight could find immense value in them as well.
The most eye-catching course is “Dr. Berg’s Keto & Intermittent Fasting Coach Training.” What sets this course apart from others is the gargantuan price tag of $645 (though its typical price appears to be $1,200). Plus, it contains 8 hours of educational videos – at least 4 times longer than Dr Berg’s cheaper courses.
This course is specifically aimed at helping students become certified keto and intermittent fasting coaches.
On Dr Berg’s website, you can also find four quizzes that may help you determine your body type, health condition, as well as fat burning and nutritional “IQ”. The latter two check how good your knowledge of the role of different nutrients and foods is.
You get access to over a dozen free PDF guides as well, like this short guide that claims to help you easily count calories.
Dr Berg has an online shop as well, where he sells supplements, digital programs, and books, among other things. His books include Healthy Keto & Intermittent Fasting, Dr. Berg’s Keto Recipes Complete Edition, The Healthy Keto Plan, Dr. Berg’s Healthy Fat Burning Recipes, and Ketogenic Desserts.
Is Dr Eric Berg A Real Doctor?
Dr Eric Berg’s background sounds impressive, but is he a real doctor? Here’s what we found out.
Dr Berg’s YouTube video descriptions typically contain the following disclaimer:
Dr. Eric Berg received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1988. His use of “doctor” or “Dr.” in relation to himself solely refers to that degree. Dr. Berg is a licensed chiropractor in Virginia, California, and Louisiana, but he no longer practices chiropractic in any state and does not see patients.
As a result, some critics of Dr Berg (or critics of Chiropractic Doctors in general) will argue that he is not medically qualified to provide dietary advice.
Berg’s video then adds:
This video is for general informational purposes only. It should not be used to self-diagnose and it is not a substitute for a medical exam, cure, treatment, diagnosis, and prescription or recommendation.
So no matter what, as a uniform disclaimer, when it comes to your health, you should follow the directions of your doctor. Do your own research as well.
Dr Berg has also weighed in on the vaccine debate, like in the below video:
One can find what appears to be Dr Berg’s profile on the website of the Virginia Department of Health Professions. Dr Berg’s name seems not to be listed on the California and Louisiana chiropractor licensure websites (perhaps because he no longer practices).
Based on Eric Berg’s profile on the website of the Virginia Department of Health Professionals, he was reprimanded in 2007. Among other things, the reprimand was issued because of allegations that he had used techniques outside the practice of chiropractic.
Of the alleged violations you can find in the order, one was that Dr Berg had used the designation “Dr.” numerous times without clarifying that he was a doctor of chiropractic. Another was that he identified his practice as a “Health and Wellness Center” without clarifying that it was a chiropractic practice.
With that said, a later decision terminated the terms imposed on Eric Berg’s license, providing him with “a full and unrestricted license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
It should also be added that it is very common to find such records for doctors in the US today, given the extent to which they are regulated and the massive amount of lawsuits within the industry.
